Project description

Hospital Virgen Macarena in Seville belongs to Servicio Andaluz de Salud. It is a 69.507 m2 hospital that service a population over 550.000 inhabitants. Hospital Virgen Macarena in collaboration with Agencia Andaluza de la Energía, and following the recommendations of the Environmental Management Unit of the hospital regarding the reduction of tenergy consumption, contracted INGHO to design a new installation for the production of hot water based on thermal solar collectors.

Results

INGHO designed a solar thermal collector system for the production of hot water to feed the production of domestic hot water. The installation is formed by 412 flat solar collectors, with a open surface of 2,1 m2 each, distributed along the roof of the 4 wings of the building. This installation allows to capture solar energy to service the demand of domestic hot water of the hospital and, hence, reduce the natural gas consumption.
