Project description
Kuito Municipal hospital is located in Angola, it is equipped with 250 beds with a built surface of 20.000 sqm, this building has been constructed over the old hospital through several refurbishment actions and one relevant extension. This project aims at keeping the old hospital esence but intalling modern faciltiies to face the funtional requirements of a XXI century hospital. This project also wanted to guarantee the integration of the building in the environment and considering the country culture. The use of natural lighting, free cooling and renewable energy sources let the hospital to run an efficient installations.
Results
Success in the integration of the existing old building and the new building, improved functional spaces and reduced enviormental impact through the integration of renewable energy sources and integrated strategies to reduce the energy consumption in HVAC systems and lighting.
