Agencia Andaluza de la Energía held a competition for energy audits for those public buildings belonging to the Andalusian Government which have a significant relevance by their energy consumption. INGHO was the winner of this tender. Costa del Sol Hospital is one among these buildings, it is a 55,000 m2 building located in the town of Marbella (Málaga) and was opened in 1993. INGHO developed an energy audit, analyzing facilities, historical consumption, developing a mathematical model of building energy performance in different scenarios, analyzing the impact on consumption of different possible options for improvement, and finally proposed energy saving measures that were contrasted by technical and economic viability.
An investment plan was designed and proposed with the aim of reducing the energy consumption in hospital, the plan was based on an energy model of the building where one full year, hourly-based, is performed to evaluate passive and active solutions.
